Faded and Foggy Headlights: Now a Thing of the Past

(click on the images for an enlarged view. More below.)

I have been in the automotive reconditioning business for 22 years, and I have spent years testing and putting together the fastest and most amazing headlight restoration kit possible. I do this professionally for the pickiest customers. My wife and daughter have tested this kit on dozens of cars and most headlights can be made to look outstanding in about 15 minutes. This kit makes maintaining that look very easy and can be done in less than 5 minutes one or twice a year depending how much your car is outdoors.

If your headlights are very faded, but smooth to the touch, you will be able to get excellent i.e. nearly new results; even if they are so faded you can’t see into them. If your headlights have really rough patches, this kit can make them look much better, but you probably won’t get them to looking like new. This kit is not some miracle kit where you wipe something on and magically the lights look like new. I have yet to see one of those work in person, even though they seem to on tv. The pads last along time so you don’t have to buy a new kit each time you want to do a car.

I personally use this kit professionally on a daily basis and am continually amazed at the results.

This kit contains a 3 grit tri-pad. You just flip the pads over for a different grit. They are soft and padded so they are easy on the hands and get around contours easily. They cut fast without leaving any deep scratches in your lenses or your car finish if you happen to hit the paint.

Advantages: No guessing what grit to use, No sanding dust blowing in your face, nose and eyes, No sandpaper to bunch up and tear to pieces, Re-usable, No sanding dust blowing all over your car, Fast, Easy..my 16 daughter does her own lights in a few minutes, Great results, tested on hundreds of cars, No time wasted taping off your car in case your sanding goes wild. Some kits start with 1000 grit sandpaper and after 2 hours of sanding the white truck below, you would need 2 weeks for the burn in your arms to wear off. Some kits use nothing but polish this works in some cases if you have only minor fading. Our kit works on all but the most cracked and damaged lenses.

As with any kit on the market, you will have to do an a quick touch up on your lenses from time to time. The lights from the factory fade, and they will continue to fade. If you don’t maintain them, they will get to the point of being very difficult to repair the damage due to fading. Once you complete the initial fading removal, touch ups should take only a couple of minutes to lightly buff off any haze. I just go over mine with the yellow pad and then buff. Which takes about 4 minutes total time.

Follow the tri-pad up with a nice buff with our 2 included polishes one medium and one super polish. You can use the polish with any buffer or with a hand drill.

Kit Includes enough for several cars: Comes with the Below

3 grit tri-pad red=course grey=medium gold=fine

2 polishes Medium and Super

1 Velcro drill attachment for buffing use with any hand drill

(Drill Not Included)

1 Wool and 1 Foam buffing pads

$45.95
1 faded headlight repair kit

Tips:

I use the tri-pad with water to keep dust down. You can spritz on the water w/ a spray bottle or simply dip the entire pad in water. If your lenses have some minor rough spots you can start with the red pad until all the yellowing and roughness is gone, followed by the grey, and then the gold pad. Buff with the medium polish using the wool pad followed by the foam pad using the super polish. If you see a dull spot you missed just buff that spot up with the gold pad and rebuff.

If your car looks like the white truck use red, grey, gold in that order. After using the red pad, the lens should be uniformly dull with all yellowing removed. Follow this with the grey pad to start smoothing the lens. After several passes over the lens, it should be getting slightly clearer. Finally go over the lens for several passes with the gold pad, the lens should appear pretty clear underneath the pad where the lens is wet from the pad. After you go over the entire lens with each color in the tri-pad, you move on to buffing. Attach the velcro backing plate to your drill. Center the Purple wool pad on the velcro. First use the Medium polish with the wool pad until the lens is clear. Keep the buffing pad moving and put a spritz of water on it to keep the pad cool. Follow with Super Polish and Orange foam pad. Keep the foam pad moving around the lens until clear and highly polished. Wipe with a cloth.

If you lens looks like the Red Car, go over the entire lens with each color on the tri-pad. Then Buff

If your car has light fading, use only the yellow pad then buff.

If your car looks like the gold car at the bottom, use the grey pad lightly on the dull areas only, followed by the yellow pad then buff the entire lens.

If you are considering the kits that use round sand paper disks and a drill to sand your headlights, take into consideration that the dust that is thrown off is nasty stuff to breath and to get into your eyes. I have used this method and don’t miss the scratchy bloodshot eyes and the end of the day.
